Car accident stops 80eDays Tesla Roadster from completing world tour

A unfortunate traffic accident brought Rafael de Mestre's electric trek across the globe to an abrupt halt today, stopping his Tesla Roadster a scant kilometer from the finish line. "Game over," the world traveler wrote on Facebook and Twitter, posting a picture of the damaged vehicle and assuring readers that he survived the ordeal. Since then, he's only offered a small update, lamenting the loss of his faithful electric carriage and sharing a short video of the accident's aftermath. Lend the dejected driver some moral support (or just engage in digital rubbernecking) at the source links below.

Self Improvement & Memory Training: Destress With Brainwave ...

How do you stop aging so fast?

There has to be a way to minimize the detrimental effects that stress has on your mind and body, aging you prematurely... and there is.

It's called brainwave entrainment.

Brainwave entrainment is a scientifically proven technology that introduces audio and/or visual pulses, in specific patterns, to the brain, with the intention of changing its frequency, thus changing its state of consciousness.

A whole lot of research has been conducted on how changing your brainwave frequency can change what is happening in the brain and what kind signals it sends out to the body.

The brainwave of meditation, the alpha brainwave, 8 - 12 cycles per second or Hz, has been found to be extremely beneficial in stopping the excessive release of stress hormones like cortisol and epinephrine, and instrumental in the intended release of hormones that feel good and heal the body. Entrainment can induce a state of meditation each and every time you listen to a specifically designed session. Brainwave entrainment alters your state of consciousness.

Meditation, especially if the frequency is consistent, creates a state of metabolic restfulness far deeper than that of sleep. Scientific studies prove that meditation results in a better flow of blood to the brain, which helps relax muscles and decreases the release of stress hormones, thereby leading to a quick rejuvenation of mind and body.

The effects of meditation, in combination with brainwave entrainment, last, even when you've stopped listening to the recording. With continuous use of a session, new permanent neural pathways are formed in the gray matter of the brain, helping you cope better with stress, thus raising your stress threshold.

Top 3 reasons to Apply for Credit Card Consolidation

Are you having a difficult time keeping track of all your monthly billings? Credit card bills can especially hurt you because they slap late payment penalties on top of your interest rates which are higher compared to secured loans. Then you should consider credit card debt consolidation to combine all your bills into one loan. That means you only receive a monthly statement for a fixed amount of payable. This is a perfect tool if you have multiple credit card bills that are generating high interest rates and already placing your household budget on a huge burden.

Cut down your interest rates
Credit cards are good for emergency situation. But if you don?t manage your finances efficiently, they can put you on a very bad situation. By applying for a credit card consolidation from a reputable and accredited company, you can restructure your obligations to make payments easier. For instance, after negotiations, all your creditors agreed to cut down your interest rates and from a combined 15% to just 10%. If you owe a total of $10,000 on all your credit cards, that means savings of $500 each month. You can use that money either to speed up the payment period or spend it somewhere else.
You must remember, however, that credit card debt consolidation doesn?t mean all your obligations are cleared. The right term is reallocation of your debts so you can save a little more for your household expenses.

Keep track of your bills easier
As what have been said earlier, you will now have an easier time remembering the due date for your payment. This will prevent you from incurring more late charges and fines if you default or even if you are late for just one day from the scheduled date of payment. All these fees and charges accrue over time and will further bury you in a heap of debt. Through the credit card consolidation program, you can also get freedom from debt much faster than just paying the minimum amount stated in your monthly bill.

Avoid further damaging your credit score
All these penalties and default payments are reflected in your credit score. A badly damaged score will impact on the amount of loan you can get in the future, if the banks are willing to give you a loan at all. Make no mistake about it, applying for credit card debt consolidation will affect your score but it will eventually improve if you are up-to-date with your payments. Once you settle all your debts, your debt consolidation company will request the creditors to give a good word on regulatory bodies to positively impact your credit scores. A good bonus is a workshop on how to better manage your finances so this kind of problem will not crop up again in the future.

?Debt consolidation Hints for Finding the Best Service
When you feel like your monthly budget is already stretched too thin because of your mounting bills, you can look for professional debt consolidators to better manage your financial position. What is debt consolidation? It?s when the creditors waive off the interest rates and all the penalties for late payments that accrued over the years. Instead, you agree to just pay them a fixed amount each month for your credit card bill for example, until all your obligations shall have been...

UPDATE 1-Baseball-Tigers tamed by Royals in Kansas City

* Gordon homers to lead Royals to series sweep

* Tigers trail White Sox by three games in division race

(Adds quotes, detail)

Aug 30 (Reuters) - The Detroit Tigers failed to make up

ground on the pacesetting Chicago White Sox in the hotly

contested American League Central division when they lost 2-1 to

the Kansas City Royals on Thursday.

The White Sox were beaten 5-3 by the Baltimore Orioles

earlier in the day but the Tigers did not take advantage as the

Royals rode strong pitching by Jeremy Guthrie to complete a

three-game series sweep.

Right-hander Guthrie (3-3) allowed just one run on 10 hits,

nine of them singles, while Alex Gordon struck his 10th homer

leading off the sixth to bolster the Kansas City offense.

"I was going to go out there and throw strikes, and when you

throw strikes, guys put some swings on them," Guthrie, who has

made eight starts for the Royals since they acquired him in a

July 20 trade, told reporters.

"The biggest thing was I was able to keep nine of them to

singles and just allow one extra-base hit. That was kind of the

big key in terms of allowing hits but no runs."

For Detroit, Rick Porcello (9-10) cruised through four

innings before finding trouble on his way to a fourth straight

loss, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks.

The game turned in the fifth inning after the Royals loaded

the bases with none out as Mike Moustakas doubled into the

right-center gap, Jeff Francoeur singled to center and Eric

Hosmer walked.

However, Porcello escaped with just one run in after Johnny

Giavotella's groundout to shortstop Jhonny Peralta scored

Moustakas.

"We were fortunate enough to get out of that inning with

only one run," said Porcello. "And then in the sixth inning,

that's the inning where I've got to be able to close and get us

back in the dugout. It didn't happen, obviously."

In the sixth inning, the Royals went after Porcello as

Gordon opened with a home run, Billy Butler doubled, Salvador

Perez singled and Porcello was relieved by left-hander Darin

Downs.

The Tigers (69-61) remain three games behind the White Sox

in their head-to-head race for the division title and the teams

now head to Detroit to begin a crucial three-game series on

Friday night.

"We're a much better team than what we showed these past

three games," said Porcello. "For us to be looking at what

Chicago's doing and what's happening with them would be a

mistake. We need to focus on ourselves, playing good baseball.

"We can't sit around and wait for other teams to lose. We've

got to take the bull by the horns and go out and simply beat

teams."

Serena Williams Beats Ekaterina Makarova At U.S. Open, Reaches 4th Round

NEW YORK -- Serena Williams didn't watch any video of her loss to Ekaterina Makarova at this year's Australian Open as she prepared for their rematch at the U.S. Open.

She even hates looking at photos from defeats. But she is free to check out this match again after she won in straight sets in the third round Saturday.

Back when she used to relive those losses on tape, Williams said: "It was like stabbing myself."

No such pain so far at this year's U.S. Open. The fourth-seeded American won 6-4, 6-0, avenging her straight-set defeat in the Australian Open's fourth round.

The 42nd-ranked Makarova fell to 1-14 against top-five players.

When they played in January, Williams had seven double-faults and 37 unforced errors. The numbers Saturday were one and 16.

Agnieszka Radwanska, in her own words, survived her match. On a steamy day at Flushing Meadows, the second-seeded Pole was relieved to beat Jelena Jankovic in straight sets ? and even that 6-3, 7-5 victory took 1 hour, 38 minutes.

"I was feeling like I was melting there," Radwanska said. "I survived the match. In the second set, I was just better for a couple of points."

She was broken four times, but Radwanska converted six of seven break-point chances against the 30th-seeded Serb.

While Radwanska is ranked a career-high No. 2 and coming off her first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon, Jankovic has fallen far from her No. 1 ranking in 2008 and hasn't been back to a title match at a major tournament since the U.S. Open that year. With confidence on her side, Radwanska knew patience would pay off.

"Especially with the hot conditions, you really have to fight more yourself than against the opponent," she said.

Jankovic had 37 unforced errors to 15 for Radwanska, who reached the fourth round at the U.S. Open for the first time since 2008. She has never been to the quarterfinals here.

"I think everything could happen today," Radwanska said. "So what I was trying to do, just fight 'til the end. Was a lot of the games that was like 30-all, 30-love, and then suddenly I was winning the games. It was a lot of weird points."

And a lot of long rallies, which both players tend to produce. On Saturday, they had six of at least 20 shots.

"We always have to run a lot in our matches, for sure," Radwanska said.

Her next opponent is 20th-seeded Roberta Vinci, who beat No. 13 seed Dominika Cibulkova 6-2, 7-5.

Nicolas Almagro, seeded 11th on the men's side, beat American teenager Jack Sock 7-6 (3), 6-7 (4), 7-6 (2), 6-1 to reach the round of 16 at Flushing Meadows for the first time.

Martin Klizan, who upset fifth-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the second round, extended his best Grand Slam run by beating 32nd-seeded Jeremy Chardy 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. He next faces 17th-seeded Kei Nishikori, who defeated 12th-seeded Marin Cilic in four sets.

Other top players on court Saturday include Roger Federer and Andy Murray. Americans Sloane Stephens, James Blake, Mardy Fish and Sam Querrey are also scheduled to play.

The Xbox 360 ? Buying The Right Game Console The First Time ...

English: Xbox 360 250 GB as shown at the 2010 ...

English: Xbox 360 250 GB as shown at the 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Once you have made the decision to buy an Xbox 360 the fun is just beginning.? You thought it was going to be a simple case of walking into the store and just grabbing a box and heading back out.? Guess again, the options you are going to encounter may surprise you.

One of the keys to getting the best bargain on your Xbox 360 is making sure you buy the right bundle to get started.? While you may see a simple setup which is the lowest starting cost, it might also be your highest long term cost.

A question which should enter your mind as you are looking a consoles is how much memory and storage space does the Xbox 360 have.? You want to get a system with 4GB of memory, and the largest hard drive within your budget.? Look for a system with the 250 GB hard drive to give you plenty of storage for games and other downloads for your Xbox.

The next question should be wrapped around the bundled accessories. If you take a quick look at those starter kits they normally only have one controller.? Talk about a disaster.? You get home and rent, or buy, a great multiplayer game and then need to run back to the store to buy a controller.? Choose a bundle with at least two controllers in it.

Speaking about games, why would you buy a bundle which does not include a game?? By looking around just a little bit you can find Xbox 360 bundles which include games from almost any genre.? This will give you something to play when you first get home with the Xbox.? The best news is Microsoft is very picky about the games which are bundled and you can be confident it is a fun game.

Now you may be starting to question the sanity of saving money with this strategy, but you need to really look at the numbers.? If you buy the starter kit, buy another Microsoft controller, and buy a single game to go with it, you will exceed the price of the bundled package.

If you really need to cut corners then take a look at slightly older bundles.? You could drop down to a 120GB hard drive to save a few dollars.? Often the bundles which were released during a special promotion are still sitting around and are being highly discounted to get them moved out of inventory.

If your budget is really tight, then you can even consider the bundles containing Refurbished by Microsoft Xbox 360 systems.? You will save money, but you will get older technology and smaller hard drives most of the time.? These system usually come with a shorter warranty, too.

The most important thing is to not get caught up in the idea of grabbing the starter package to save money.? Look at your options carefully and get the Xbox 360 which is ready for action today, and can still grow with you in the future.
