ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The expansion of a local manufacturing company is putting more Stateliners back to work.
Rockford Process Control has been working to expand their product line for a year and has added 4 new pieces of equipment with the help of Alpine Bank. RPC makes hardware for hospitals and schools. The $1 million expansion will add new machines creating 12 new jobs. The money will also be for renovations to the current building. Engineers and welders are just a few of the new positions.
RPC is now making parts for golf carts and motorcycles, which has made business go up by 20 percent from last year. Chief Finance Officer Dave Bippus contributes the growth to the workers.
"We need to thank the employees because during the downturn we laid off a lot of people, we had wage cuts and so they all stepped up, productivity went up. So adding more jobs is kind of a reward for them to say, okay the worst is behind us, we don't have to worry about that anymore," Bippus said.
As part of the expansion, one of the new machines is the horizontal machining center. The model will be the first of its kind in the U.S.
RPC says they plan to add more jobs by 2014. They will start hiring manufacturing positions in December. To apply for these positions, please visit http://www.jobsmart.com
